If you’re looking for delicious craft brews made in small batches, you’re in the right place. Rooted in Knoxville, Iowa, we’re one of Iowa’s oldest independent craft breweries (est. 2009). Here, you can try everything from gold medal to groovy beers. We also have a taproom in the Historic East Village in Des Moines.
We put a lot of care into each beer we create. It’s why we’ve won gold medals at two of the world’s largest and most prestigious beer competitions. Blonde Fatale earned gold at the World Beer Cup® and Get a Little Hazy won gold at the Great American Beer Festival. These beers continue to turn heads (or is that tastebuds) along with our ever-evolving line up of year-round, Brewer’s Special Release, Sour Wood Series, and limited releases.
Our premium craft root beer has an old-fashioned flavor that will transport you back to the carefree moments of your childhood. Non-alcoholic and caffeine-free, it’s handcrafted in small batches. The delicious flavor comes from the delicate balance of real sugar, vanilla, sarsaparilla, and caramel. It’s a refreshing treat for kids (and kids at heart).
We have grab n’ go beer and gear in our online shop.
Find our delicious beers and sodas in stores, restaurants, and bars across Iowa and Nebraska, or enjoy them at our two taprooms.
We have 23 beers on tap everyday, which we regularly rotate so there is always something new to try! Not a beer drinker? We carry a guest cider, beer cocktails, wine by the glass, tea, and, of course, our root beer. Both of our taprooms have outdoor patios and are dog friendly.
Our original brewery and taproom in downtown Knoxville, Iowa, is located just miles from beautiful Lake Red Rock and seats up to 60 inside. It offers a casual setting with an outdoor patio that is dog friendly.

We want to focus on making great beer—not on cooking food at our taprooms. We encourage you to bring in your favorite fare or have a to-go order delivered to the taproom. Not sure who delivers? Ask our bartenders! We’re happy to help. If you just need something to munch on, we offer Iowa cheeses, meats, and popcorn snacks.
Want to grab a to-go growler, keg, or 4, 6, or 12-pack? It’s easy. Just click to see what’s available and place your order.

We’re brewing, canning, and bottling our great beer and soda in small town Iowa, and we love it! We’re proud to be one of Iowa’s first craft breweries, and the first 100 percent woman-owned brewery in the state.
The meaning behind our name, Peace Tree, continues to inspire us. The Peace Tree was a grand sycamore — estimated to be the 2nd largest in North America and more than 500 years old. It stood majestically just miles from us in Lake Red Rock. Historically, it was a place Native Americans met for generations, before it became a meeting place for fur traders. Indian treaties were negotiated there. The tree has since lost its battle with nature, but still reminds us that our focus is to make beer that is shared with friends and strangers alike and acts as a catalyst for conversations, new friendships, and important agreements.
