Happy New Year! 2016 is shaping up to be a fun year for beer and great live music. Here’s a few shows happening in our taproom in the near future:
Friday, January 15th @ 8pm
When Dan was here back in August, he put on one of the best performances we saw in 2015. If you missed him the last time, make sure to mark your calendars for his return!
Plus, our pal CAPTN’S BBQ will be here from 5:30-9pm, slinging up some of the best brisket and pulled pork you’ll find anywhere!
“Dan Tedesco is the quintessential modern-day troubadour, narrating the American experience in song honestly and intimately, and with a big sound to boot. A solo artist, Tedesco’s stage show is framed by a minimalist production that finds him belting out folk-spiced rockers from behind both acoustic and electric guitars while foot-stomping percussion rounds out many of the arrangements.”
Dan is a powerful and impassioned solo performer who is sure to put on a show you won’t want to miss!
Saturday, January 23rd @ 8pm
Stutterin’ Jimmy & the Goosebumps*
Stutterin’ Jimmy is the musical alias of singer-songwriter Jim Enos, who has used his music to express himself in ways a stutter had prevented. We’re excited to welcome Jimmy in his Peace Tree debut!
Jimmy’s gravelly, impassioned vocals come from a weathered place deep down in his soul – sounding like a cross between the blues of Howlin’ Wolf and the rasp of Tom Waits.
Jimmy was recently featured in a full-spread article in the Des Moines Register for his music and the obstacles he’s overcome to create it.
Jimmy will be accompanied at this performance by Matt Woods , a terrific blues guitarist and singer/songwriter who has slayed our stage on multiple occasions with his own solo material.
Friday, February 5th @ 8pm
Steve McLain is a talented singer-songwriter from Fairfield–best known as the longtime frontman of southern Iowa roots-rockers, The Jefferson County Green Band. Steve’s solo performances are stripped down to acoustic guitar and harmonica and highlight his clear, classic vocals. His live shows include his original songs alongside select covers of such artists as Neil Young and John Prine. From scorchin’ country-blues to subtle folk, Steve McLain is a longtime favorite here at Peace Tree. He last performed at our 5-year anniversary in March 2015, so we’re excited to finally welcome him back.
Saturday, February 13th @ 8pm
Join us in welcoming the Peace Tree debut of singer-songwriter Josh Davis and his “Sad Bastard pre-Valentine’s Day Show”.
Davis is perhaps best known as the frontman for the popular Des Moines rock band, BRIGHT*GIANT. His songwriting style incorporates acoustic folk, Americana, roots country and alternative pop/rock. Josh has grown a following in the state with his wry humor, poignant songwriting and energetic performances. Don’t miss it!
*Peace Tree requests a $5 cover on live music nights to help us support our talented local artists. Join our annual Tree House Club and never pay the cover charge.
