John’s Generations 1948 Sour Wit

Peace Tree has teamed up with our friends at Iowa City’s iconic John’s Grocery to create this kettle-soured witbier.

John’s Grocery has been an institution in Iowa City for generations, first opening their doors in 1948.  They were one of the pioneering wine & spirits shops in the Midwest for carrying imported beers from Germany and Belgium, as well as American craft beers and sours.

This brew starts with pale malted barley, wheat and oats and is kettle-soured before finishing fermentation with a Belgian yeast.  Coriander and orange peel complement the yeast esters with a spicy, citrus character.

Here’s a toast to all the generations who’ve paved the way for beer!

This beer is available in 6-pack bottles at John’s Grocery and other fine retailers in Eastern and Central Iowa, starting in late September 2016.
