Legendary Ames College football player, John “Jack” Trice, selflessly broke down barriers and paved the way for a better future. On Oct. 6, 1923, at the young age of 21, he made the ultimate sacrifice. While honoring his race, family and self, he solidified his legacy forever.
1st Down Brewing Co. had a vision to honor Jack’s legacy through beer. Looking to partner with an established central Iowa brewery with a trusted reputation, the choice was clear – Peace Tree Brewing Co. With shared values in authenticity and community, 1st Down and Peace Tree embarked on a journey to commemorate Jack. What culminated is a classic red corn ale with notes of caramel and a smooth, malty finish.
A portion of sales goes to the Trice Legacy Foundation, furthering its impact in helping Black students succeed, and helping to build a culture of doing better.
